CAKE SMASH SESSION INFO
Of all the years in your child’s life, it is the first that carries the most milestones. First smile, first tooth, first word…celebrate that first birthday with a cake smash portrait session! These sessions are some of the most fun you can have in a portrait studio; they are a parent favourite!
Cake smash sessions are an hour long, and generally take place in studio, but can be outdoors if the weather suits in late spring, summer or early fall. The first part of the session is for a few parent or sibling shots with the baby of honour in a special outfit. Then we change backgrounds, put baby in a diaper cover, add a cake and let the fun ensue!
You may bring your own cake or one can be provided for an extra fee. You can also choose a colour scheme to personalize your cake and smashing background. After the smash, we run a quick bath for you to clean up your birthday baby before heading home.
How to prepare:
-Be sure to let baby have cake before the session. They need to understand that they’re allowed to touch it, and that it is in fact for eating!
-Bring a sippy cup or bottle with baby’s favourite drink…eating cake is thirsty work.
-A couple of baby’s favourite toys can help tear their attention away from the cake for those all important eye contact shots.
