At five days new, Finn was one of the youngest babies we’ve had in the Nest. He arrived sleepy but decided he might just like to stay awake and not miss out on all the action. After a snack he decided there wasn’t much action after all and he slept like a champ throughout the session! I do so love the babes with a full head of hair…just more to style!

I love, love, love, love when parents bring in special items to use in the shoot. It’s great fun for me to work with new stuff and I really love to be able to customize portraits by including something meaningful to the family. These parents brought the crate, hat, quilt and wooden bowl in the last two shots…all of which I wanted to keep, of course! Not to mention cutie pie Owen, but they really weren’t going to part with him At least I got a few cuddles before he went home!

I just knew this babe would be a sweet and lovely little doll…there’s just something in that name And she was.

At five days new and over 8 lbs, Natalie was a scrumptious armful that I was more than happy to cuddle for a while!

Sniff, sniff. September not only marks the beginning of the school year, but the end of those lazy, hazy days of summer. It’s a bittersweet time as the kids are excited to be back at school, but we will all miss that extra time together: no routines, sleep ins and morning cuddles, splurging on icy treats and life on the patio. It was a pretty relaxing summer around here, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t get in some great sessions! Here’s some of what we did this summer

The S family joined me for an evening session last week, back before the fall chill fell on us. Since it was so warm, the bugs were insane, but such troopers they were and stuck it out. Three fabulous kids and an energetic lab round out this outdoor loving family. Thanks for a great session!

I promised them they could throw leaves…game on!

Yay for Watch Me Grow babies! Some babies change so much from their newborn selves and others you can still recognize as they grow. Miss Brooke has changed a little, but I still see that tiny newborn girl in her face. But, oh, those big brown eyes are definitely different! I’m not sure I even got to see her awake during her newborn shoot…she slept like an angel for me. She looks a lot like her daddy, but she definitely has momma’s eyes if you ask me. At six months, Brooke is definitely a smiley baby and seems so happy to sit and play…and be doted on of course! Ah, the joys of being the first born

There is just something about this one that squeezes my heart…

Miss Charlie (short for Charlize, of course!) is one of my Watch Me Grow babies….and I can’t believe how much she has changed! She’s quite tall, and not much baby chub on this little munchkin. Charlie is an introspective little soul; she always looks like she’s trying to figure things out. That’s one of the great things about babies at this age: they’re learning to control their bodies and they are so curious and happy. They’re also totally into mom and dad! The bad thing is it can be prime teething time :( Charlie was a little trooper though, and rocked even a winter bear coat with the greatest of ease. Can’t wait to see you for the cake smash, Charlie!

Months and months ago an auntie contacted me about a gift certificate for her niece…Yay! We make a great gift She’s also having twins, says auntie…double yay! Literally.

I would drop everything any given day of the week to shoot twins…of any age really, but newborns are such a treat. If you follow us at all, you know twins are near and dear to my heart <3 And these two, well, I just could have kept them both! Grayson is the boy, and we was out like a light when he arrived and stayed so for such a good chunk of time. He is VERY curly and a little frog legged! Sister Taylor is a bit bigger than her brother, and was wide awake and checking me out. Awake or asleep they were both happy as clams, even when we ‘negotiated’ them into the pea pod (which is made for one by the way, but rather stretchy thankfully!)

Mom and Dad were SUCH easy going parents, which can be surprising for first time parents, but also for parents of twinkies. Even when the pregancy is uneventful, multiples are still considered high risk and caring for two babies at once can mean a lot of stress. These two were fabulous, even after being peed on {both!} It was so great to spend time with such a wonderful family!

Mom and Dad brought grandma’s christening gown, aged over 100 years and beautiful from top to bottom. Babies in the family have worn it for years. It was slightly big on the twins, but oh, what a priceless piece of family history and I’m honoured to be a part of it.

This sweet little man was another wakey baby in the Nest recently. I love his sweet little lips! And his big brother Coen is just about as cute as can be! The camera just loves them both! Eli did sleep for me after a couple of snacks and some cuddly blankets. You never know which babies will like to bare it all and which will like to be snuggled up tight. I sure hope he comes back when he’s a bit older…it will be so fun to see him grow!

I first met Prince William back when he was just a beautiful bump. We knew he was a boy, and I was excited right then to meet him…I wasn’t getting many boys at the time so it was great news. Along with his big brother Benjamin, he graced the studio last week. Due to some tummy troubles, this little man was certainly more comfy in certain positions while asleep, but what a little dear he was even awake. Benjamin made many dishes in the play kitchen, and for a three year old did a great job with his little brother!
